Interesting read, and helped to allow for the common soldier to better understand their role and function. I was in the authors assigned unit in the Gulf War, but was lower enlisted. At my rank level (and due to youth), I never fully understood the units mission. We just went where we were told. This book was a real eye opener, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to read it. Thanks Sgt.Wiehe.

GDAY Rendezvous with Eagles eBook Stephen Wiehe Reviews

WOW!!!!! Awesome first hand account of the initial days of Desert Storm. Felt every emotional moment as if I were there. Hopefully more books will be coming from this great author!
G-Day, Rendezvous with Eagles gives a great, and slightly humorous, first-hand account of the day-to-day (and not so day-to-day) activities of an Army soldier in Desert Storm. It incorporates societal and political events from the late '80s/early '90s and ties them into today's current events, and reflects on the outcome of the war given the current U.S. involvement overseas. I would recommend it for soldiers facing their first deployment, their families, or anyone that wants to know more about the U.S. involvement in Desert Storm/Desert Shield.
I just finished reading this amazing account of the Gulf War - "G-DAY Rendezvous wth Eagles." I am a history buff who is much more interested in learning about an event through the eyes of someone who actually experienced it first hand. The reporting of Sgt. Wiehe's deployment with the 101st Airborne Division gave me a whole new perspective of what it is like to be a soldier during the Gulf War war. My heart stopped when I read how his company was inadvertantly dropped off in the middle of a mine field and I was moved by his prayer. I think he did a most excellent job of telling this important story. I was also very impressed by how he paid homage to his fellow soldiers, his leaders and those who fought before him. Job well done, Sgt. Wiehe - job well done.
I thought this was a well written firsthand account of the lead-up and his deployment to a combat zone, during Desert Storm. I'm a Vietnam Vet, and saw similarities in some experiences, while getting a better understanding of the more modern day technologies available to our men and women in combat and support roles. Be it fifty years ago, or twenty years ago, the Infantry Soldier, STILL carries their daily needs, and weaponry, on their backs!
Great read, index for abbreviations really appreciated. Good story, filled with details to put me into the story. Thanks Stephen.
